Buying
Can I inspect the vehicle before purchasing?
Yes. We provide detailed inspection reports, high-resolution photo galleries, and 360° walkaround videos for most vehicles. For buyers in Japan, a physical inspection at our Chofu yard can be arranged by appointment.
How do I know the mileage is accurate?
Every vehicle on our platform displays the odometer reading as recorded by the Japanese auction house at time of sale. Vehicles graded by official Japanese auctioneers carry a recognised mileage guarantee.
Can I request a specific vehicle that is not in stock?
Absolutely. Use our 'Notify Me' feature to set up an alert for your desired specification, or contact our sourcing team directly. We attend major Japanese auto auctions weekly and can bid on your behalf.
What is the minimum order quantity?
There is no minimum order — you can purchase a single vehicle. However, customers ordering two or more vehicles benefit from reduced shipping rates on roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels.
Payment
Is a deposit required to hold a vehicle?
Yes. A 30% deposit is required within 3 business days of receiving your invoice to place the vehicle on hold. Without a deposit, the vehicle remains available to other buyers.
Do prices include shipping?
Listed prices are FOB (Free on Board) Japan. Upon inquiry, our team will provide a full CIF quote that includes freight, marine insurance, and any origin charges for your chosen destination port.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. Our CIF quotations are comprehensive and itemised. Destination charges such as port handling, customs duties, and local taxes are the buyer's responsibility and vary by country.
Shipping
How long does shipping take?
Transit times vary by destination. Common routes: East Africa 25–35 days, West Africa 30–45 days, Oceania 18–28 days, Caribbean 28–38 days. We will confirm the estimated arrival date when booking the vessel.
What documents will I receive?
You will receive the original Bill of Lading, Export Certificate, Vehicle Inspection Report, and any applicable deregistration paperwork. These are dispatched by courier 2–3 days after vessel departure.
What is CAP and how do I use it?
CAP (Car Arrival Prediction) is our real-time tracking portal. Once your vehicle is loaded, you will receive a login link to monitor the vessel position and estimated port arrival date.
What if the vehicle is damaged during shipping?
All shipments include marine insurance covering transit damage. In the unlikely event of damage, please photograph the vehicle at the port and contact us immediately to initiate a claim.
Account
Is it free to create an account?
Yes, registration is completely free. A Tokyo Motors Japan account gives you access to saved searches, vehicle alerts, inquiry history, TM Points, and a personalised dashboard.
What are TM Points?
TM Points are our loyalty reward currency. You earn points on every purchase, inquiry, and referral. Points can be redeemed against future invoices or exchanged for account credits.
Can I change my account email address?
Yes. Visit your Account Settings page and select 'Update Email'. A verification link will be sent to the new address. For security reasons, you will also receive a notification at your old address.

Do you export to all countries?
We export to over 150 countries worldwide. A small number of destinations may have restrictions due to international trade regulations. Contact our support team to confirm availability for your country.
Are the vehicles right-hand or left-hand drive?
The majority of our Japanese stock is right-hand drive. We also carry a selection of left-hand drive vehicles sourced from our international partner auctions. Filter by 'Left Hand Drive' in the search to find these.
